Mariachi Timberline Performs at Xilinx Benefit

8th grade mariachi students perform at Xilinx for Longmont Sister Cities 13th annual Green Scholarship Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser 4/20/18.  It was an honor for Mariachi Timberline to support the Longmont Sister City organization.  In 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower proposed the people-to-people concept that lead to the development of Sister Cities International.  In 1991 local businesses and city government joined together to establish Longmont’s first Sister City Association with Chino, Japan. Again in 1998 Ciudad Guzman, Mexico became Longmont’s second sister city.
Proceeds from this event will go towards a scholarship fund for deserving students who would otherwise be unable to participate in the Longmont Sister Cities exchange program.  Mariachi Timberline is dedicated to supporting our local community and is a major advocate for cultural awareness.  When not performing for school events, festivals, and quinceaneras, the Timberline Mariachi group performs at different events to help Longmont organizations share our rich and diverse culture and fund-raise in support of various charity missions.
