- Community Schools
Hello! My name is Brendon Schwirtz and I am excited to be joining the Timberline team. Having moved to the Longmont area from Minnesota in mid-July, I can already tell there are a lot of positive things happening in the community!
I spent my first four years teaching math and science in the coffee region of Colombia, South America. While there, I gained a broader perspective on education and honed my Spanish speaking skills. I am very fond of the time I spent in Colombia for many reasons, but I am most appreciative for the way it helped me empathize with families from different cultures. After my time in Colombia, I returned to the United States to pursue my administrative license at the University of Minnesota. While there, I served a variety of schools, in various roles. Most recently I was the Principal at Willow Lane Elementary in White Bear Lake, MN.
One of my core beliefs is that all students want to learn and it is our job as educators to create rigorous and relevant educational experiences to teach each one effectively. For students to achieve at the highest possible level, they need as much support and encouragement as possible. Education takes a collective effort among many people. It is important to create a culture where "my students" become "our students" and where students know that everyone is here to help them reach their goals. When we all come together with a common purpose we can inspire students, staff, and the community to achieve amazing things.
I look forward to getting to know everyone connected to the Timberline community and supporting the great work already taking place!
