Timberline PK8’s Weekly Digital Newsletter
August 19, 2024
Principal’s Den
Dear Wolfpack Families,
We have had a strong start to the school year, and it has been so much fun reconnecting with students and families. This week, we welcome our youngest learners, our preschoolers, to school. In addition, students in 1st – 8th grades will be completing their fall iReady reading and math diagnostic assessments. It is important for them to bring a charged iPad to school each day. We’d like your help in encouraging students to get rest and to give these assessments their best effort. These assessments help teachers to determine how to best support your students.
As always, our administrative team and office team are here to support you and your children. Please reach out with any questions you might have. Thank you for your partnership and for your continued support of the Timberline Wolfpack! #powerofthepack

Leadership St. Vrain
We have now opened applications for the 2024-2025 cohort of Leadership St. Vrain. Please identify at least two members of your community to represent your school on this important parent committee, and personally invite them to apply. Your LSV representatives should be inclusive of the diversity of your school and should be leaders in your community who will provide valuable feedback regarding district operations. Spanish interpretation is provided at each meeting.
Once you have identified your parent representatives, it is important that they complete an application no later than September 6, and that you have confirmed with them that they have applied. You can click here to check the current applicant list to monitor if your nominated representatives have completed their applications. Please do not forward their contact information to me – they must complete the application to ensure their full information is captured in our system.
Information about Leadership St. Vrain, the schedule of events, meeting locations, and the application can be found at https://www.svvsd.org/about/district-committees/leadership-st-vrain.

Code of Conduct
Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.
Birthdays
We love celebrating birthdays at Timberline. Birthdays are announced each day in our morning message and teachers celebrate in a variety of ways in their classrooms. If you would like to bring something to school to celebrate your child, we ask that you provide small and simple birthday treats for your child’s class (ex. Cookies, mini-cupcakes, or birthday pencils). This helps to support our goal of student wellness, and it also meets the diverse dietary needs of our students.
PIE: Parents Involved in Education
Padres Involucrados en La Educación/Parents Involved in Education is excited to bring another year of programming to our families. PIE has been offering programming since the fall of 2008, so we are officially in our 16th school year of programming and partnership with you, SVVSD, and families. Please see the fall calendar here for upcoming learning sessions and please help us spread the word!
The next session is Tuesday, September 27th from 5:15-7:30pm with dinner served 5:15-6pm. The topic is Orientation and Integration into SVVSD. There is a hybrid option for families to join online if they cannot attend in person. PIE now offers organized and scheduled children’s activities during the parent learning session.
Speaking of family, we would love to have you join our PTO! There are lots of opportunities to participate at school, home and in the community throughout the year. We thrive when we work together. Please complete the attached form at your earliest convenience.
iPad Refresh
This year, students will be receiving new iPads during the first few weeks of school. Students should back up their iPads. These district-developed instructions will help you with any questions you might have.
iPad Insurance
Insurance is available for purchase! The fee is $25 for the year (or less if you qualify for free or reduced lunch). The insurance can save your family a lot of money if the iPad becomes damaged or lost. We will have tables at both Backpack Distribution Day and Wolfpack Welcome Back to help you with purchasing iPad insurance.
PAWS
At Timberline, we use our PAWS!
Positive Attitude
Act Responsibly
Work Hard
Show Respect
During the month of August, our staff and students focus on all the PAWS and how we use them in all areas of our school. We ask, “what does it look like and sound like to use our PAWS in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, playground, etc.?” Talking with your student about how they use their PAWS at home strengthens the connection between home and school.
Timberline Middle School Girls Volleyball
Girls Volleyball Season is our first sport of the school year! Practice starts Monday, August 19th!
School Arrival and Dismissal
Breakfast starts at 8:10am at Timberline, and this is the time doors open. There is no supervision prior to 8:10am so please make sure that students are dropped off no earlier than 8:10am. If students arrive after the tardy bell rings at 8:25am, they must enter through the main entrance as all outside doors are locked at that time.
School dismisses at 3:30pm and students will be dismissed from the same door they enter in the morning. Staff remains on duty until 3:40pm. Students remaining after 3:40pm will be escorted to the front office so they have an adult with them. Please make every effort to pick up your child on time. We understand that sometimes things happen and a parent is late to pick up their child. In these cases, please let our front office know.
Family Drop Off/Pick Up Loop
Timberline provides a drop off and pick up loops for the convenience of our families. The rear loop is located south of the school building. Parents can easily and conveniently enter and exit following the traffic loop with quick and safe curbside drop off and pick up. This entrance is off Lashley street between the school and park. Parents may also drop off their students in the two front traffic loops. Please make sure that your students use proper crosswalks. We must not have students entering traffic lanes to get into cars or to exit cars to get into school. We have several staff supervising and monitoring the parking lots for everyone’s safety. Cars need to stay in the designated traffic areas or use designated parking places. Please also make sure to stay clear of our bus lanes along the curb just west of the main doors. The safety of our students, families, and staff is a priority.
Attendance
At Timberline, we support student attendance in many positive ways. Why? Because staff and students both miss out when students are absent. One criteria of a student’s success in school is regular and punctual attendance. We want to support excellent attendance for our Wolf families in any way we can. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are in need of support with attendance.
Students are considered tardy if they arrive at school after 8:25am or if they arrive after the start time of each period at the middle school level. Students who come in after class has started are at a disadvantage both academically and socially. It is a challenge to catch up after the teacher has introduced the learning for the day. We ask for your support in ensuring your students arrive to school on time.
Reporting Student Absences
Please notify the school office in the morning if your child will be absent. The school needs to know that your child is with you and safe. If we are unable to contact you, we must consider the absence unexcused. You can report an absence to our office by phone at 303-772-7900 or by email to [email protected]
Cell Free Zone
In order to support a vibrant learning environment, Timberline is a cell phone free zone between 8:20am and 3:30pm, including before and after school activities. Families ALWAYS have access to their students, and students ALWAYS have access to their families through our office phones. Please contact our office at 303-772-7900 and we will be happy to connect you with your child.
